We provide our clients a disposal bin at the well site to safely and efficiently store used thread protectors after inspection.

The bin is routinely emptied, and the contents transported to our strategically located facilities around the country for processing, reconditioning and recycling.

In return, we provide our recovery customers with detailed manifests and reports that give them concrete information on the tonnage collected and kept out of landfills.

Thread protector waste is 100% recycled and sold as a reconditioned thread protector or, if damaged, the product is cleaned, ground and remanufactured into new product.

For a well-to-well service, the bins are the only option we currently have available and we strongly encourage their use for maximum storage efficiency. However, we also sell ENVIRO thread protector storage bags for short-term and one-off projects.

There are typically two pick-ups per well on wells 12,000 ft. and deeper, and a single pick-up per well on smaller depths.

The benefits of the Tri-Star recovery program go beyond corporate image (which is important in and of itself). Recycling any product at the well site such as thread protectors fits well with overall Best Management Practices at the well site.

Also of great importance is maintaining a clean and hazard-free work site, which is not possible with plastic thread protectors strewn around the well site.

In addition, the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) Policy of waste minimization suggests recycling of all products at the well site whenever possible.

Every large-quantity generator of industrial waste is required to submit an annual plan for reducing waste in the calendar year. Tri-Star Protectors recovery program qualifies for this reduction plan. Our consolidated documentation can be used to report on this directly, as all waste monitoring by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is done on a tonnage basis.

Specific tax dollar amounts are not currently available. However, there is a Federal requirement for reporting all carbon emissions on an annual basis. Indications are that a tax on these emissions is forthcoming, and therefore there would be an economic benefit to reducing this footprint.

Moreover, there is currently an actively traded carbon market in Europe. We have been assured that we can convert the tonnage of thread protector waste to carbon credit, and we are working on plan to do so. More details on this will follow in the near future.

In Texas, you could qualify for recognition under the Annual Waste Reduction Program administered by the TCEQ Clean Texas Program.
